Had a great first meeting this evening with other people interested in participating in the Charleston Help-Portrait project. There were many things discussed, including the kind of gear to bring, number of people we'd need, work flow and most importantly, how we're going to print the photos.
Printing the photos is where we're going to need a lot of help. We've got printers, so we need the supplies like ink cartridges and photo paper to print on. The group decided on printing 5"x7" photos, but if we could manage it I think it would be really great if we could give people 8"x10" photos. Whether we can do that or not will depend on the supplies we get.
The most important thing though is that we be able to give people their photos soon after their pictures is taken. To do that, we need the supplies: ink cartridges, photo paper and folders or envelopes to put the photos in. We could also use backdrops and one or two of those big 10x10' tents to keep the sun/rain off us. If you have hair/makeup skills, we can use those too! If you know anybody that can help us out with this, drop me a line or better yet, join the group and drop everybody a line.
This video from a Help-Portrait event in Dallas a few weeks ago is a great example of what it's all about.
Here's another video from a test event in Nashville. This is the kind of thing we want to accomplish here in Charleston.
